Google has recently released for free the Nik collection. I still use PhotoShop PS6 - Nik Collection 4 is a non-starter if you want to use the package as plugins. That worked if I use the Browse option in C1 with under Edit with or Open with.īut what a pain that is to do a browse every time I want to use SFX. I downloaded it, and noticed that it does not work directly with raw files. However it seems to work with tiff files. Shoot in RAW with my camera (Canon 700d) Use a free RAW converter (Canon DPP/Rawtherapee etc) Save a tiff file (to get the best quality as an intermediate format) Open image in Nik collection. That, combined with it uninstalling Nik Collection 3 convinced me not to buy it. Been using Nik for many years, relying on it heavily for my editing tweaks.

The two parts I use the most are Silver Efex and Viveza, and with the addition of Topaz Adjust AI and Denoise AI I'm in pretty good shape. Please create some tutorials for the new version, as that would be greatly. Nik Collection 4.2 (Windows and macOS) is now available for download from the DxO website for the special price of 99.99 instead of 149 and 59. So I downloaded a very simple free piece of software, Batch to Exe. It passed all of my virus and malware inspections. I then did the trick required to get things to show up in C1's list of plugins. Then right click on the file and do an "Open with" and search about three or four levels deep in the Windows "what to you want to use to open this with" dialog boxes until I got to the option that would let me browse to the tiny exe I created. Once I did that, I then went into C1 plugins and found my tiny exe and added it to the plugins to be used. Nik 4 is on sale at half-price during the US Black Friday sale (and perhaps also outside the US. It works and it runs the SFX as a standalone program and allows me to use the SFX File->save. I don’t know) and I thought about upgrading considering how inexpensive it is right now. The NIK Collection has been created by DxO and if you hadn’t guessed, this is the 4th collection, so if you’ve got collection 3, you get a discounted upgrade price of £54.99. I don’t generally use Nik much except for the HDR module which I use frequently, and I have always thought that PhotoLab took care of my needs well enough without Nik. If you’re buying it for the first time, you can pick it up for £88.99. Both prices are introductory until June 30th, when they will then increase. Before I get into using the plugin, a few points on whats provided.
